1.  HOW BIDDING AND SELLING WORKS

Below are all the details about how Motonexus auctions work.  Here you'll find all the fee details, what a seller and a bidder are allowed to do, and how we protect sellers and bidders.

How to be a Seller

1. Become a registered Seller

  • You must be a registered user to sell.  The submit an Item feature is only available to registered users of Motonexus.

  • Click the LIVE AUCTIONS button at the top of the screen.

  • Click the Register button at the top right of the screen.

  • Complete all the fields.  Remember to write down your password somewhere safe.

  • Click the SUBMIT button.

2. Login

  • Click the LIVE AUCTIONS button at the top of the screen.

  • Click the Login button at the top right of the screen.

  • Enter your username and password.

3. Gather the information you'll need to submit a motor vehicle

  • Collect up to 24 quality photographs.  Go to our Photographs page for complete details.  Submissions need to have a complete set of photos to be accepted. PHOTOS PAGE

  • You'll need the vehicle year, make, model, primary color, VIN #, Motor #, Mileage, and Engine size.

  • You will need to state if you have a title, and if the title is in your name, and the title's status (clear, salvage, in the previous owner's name, etc.).  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TITLE, YOU MUST CATEGORIZE THE VEHICLE AS A "PROJECT BIKE" OR "PROJECT CAR. "  We highly recommend obtaining a title in your name to get the best price for your vehicle.  A vehicle with a clear title in the seller's name and currently registered will bring the best price.

  • Complete every field to the best of your knowledge.  If a question does not pertain or apply, put NONE or N/A in that field.

  • We recommend that you run your auction for 7-days.

  • You have the choice to auto-relist your auction twice.  Auto relisting will rerun the auction at no charge if your auction does not receive a bid or doesn't meet the reserve price.  We recommend selecting "2" for auto relisting.  There are no additional fees for auto relisting.

  • Craft a great description that describes the vehicle in complete detail.  Also, state in your description that you will provide a complete bill of sale that includes the phrases “sold in ‘as-is’ condition” and “no warranties expressed or implied."

  • ESCROW: Motonexus encourages sellers to select ESCROW REQUIRED when submitting a vehicle.  If you do not select escrow required, the transaction will use the bidder's credit card or bank account.  Escrow Required means the payment will occur through a third-party escrow company (escrow.com).  An escrow protects both the buyer and the seller.  The buyer's money is deposited in escrow and not released until the buyer receives the item.  Using escrow removes the possibility of a bidder not paying or a seller not delivering.  Escrow is best for transactions involving large dollar amounts that exceed limits on credit cards.  For any transaction over $25,000, an escrow is likely the least expensive method to process the transaction.

  • When your auction is complete, go to escrow.com to complete the financial transaction. If you select Escrow Required, go to https://www.escrow.com/cars and create a free account.  Bidders will need to do the same.  The winning bidder sends their money to the escrow account and arranges for transportation. When the item arrives, the buyer will acknowledge receipt, and escrow will release the funds to the seller. Motonexus recommends that buyers and sellers split the escrow fee since the escrow is a service that provides equal benefit to both parties.  For more information about escrow.com, please visit their website or call escrow.com customer service.

4. Create a Premium Ad

  • You have the option of adding additional features to your ad to make it stand out. You are not required to use this feature to sell on Motonexus.

  • If you wish to make your ad a Premium listing, click the checkbox next to "Make this ad premium.

  • You will need to complete payment for the premium listing before the item can be approved to go live.

  • Click the PUBLISH button to complete your submission to Motonexus.  Your listing is now in review with a Motonexus Auction Expert.

5. Review Stage

  • A Motonexus Auction Expert reviews every listing before being published.

  • Our objective during review is to make sure you have a successful auction.  We will look at the quality and quantity of your photos.  Generally, more photos are better. We will review the description and may make improvements to spelling and grammar or add additional information about your specific model that may improve your listing.

  • We will contact you by email if we have any questions about your listing.

6. Publish or Decline and Edit

  • Once the review is complete, we will publish it at the soonest available date.

  • Should we decline to publish your submission, we will tell you precisely why and try to offer suggestions for correcting the submission.  As stated above, if you submit a vehicle in the cars or motorcycle category and do not have a title, we will decline to publish in that category and offer to publish the listing in the Projects category. Other reasons for refusing to publish a submission include but are not limited to (people in the photos, inappropriate content in images, submitting an item that Motonexus does not permit, anything illegal, photos that don't match the content of the listing, inappropriate language in the description, including phone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information in the listing.  Any other violation of our terms of use would be cause to decline a listing.

  • Sellers may return to their auction and edit the description, add or delete photos, remove the reserve price, and more.  When you make an edit, the auction will be temporarily removed until a Motonexus auction expert reviews the new content.

  • SELLERS CAN NOT CANCEL AN AUCTION ONCE AN AUCTION HAS BEGUN. BY LISTING ON MOTONEXUS, YOU AGREE TO AN EXCLUSIVE AUCTION SALE ON THIS SITE.  SELLING ON ANOTHER SITE OR OUTSIDE MOTONEXUS WHILE YOUR ITEM IS ACTIVE IS A BREACH OF YOUR CONTRACT.

7. When your auction goes live

  • Auctions have a comment section that only pertains to the item on that page.  We recommend that sellers follow the comments and respond to all questions.

  • By answering questions and actively participating in the process, sellers increase credibility and bidder confidence.

  • Every auction has a CONTACT SELLER button.  Bidders can use this feature to send sellers an email.  Bidders may want to ask additional questions, set up a time to inspect the vehicle or get a test drive.  All of this is up to the seller to approve or decline.

  • Be safe.  Setting up a meeting with a bidder can be a good idea but make sure you meet in a safe location.

8. Sniping Protection

  • Motonexus auctions include a sniping protection feature.  Sniping protection gives everyone a fair shot at winning the bid. We do not disclose the time used in our sniping protection feature.  The time is changed at random intervals to prevent the use of sniping software. Any time a bid is within a specific amount of time at the end of the auction clock, the clock extends to allow other bidders an opportunity to counter.

How to Bid

1. Become a Registered Bidder

  • You must register to bid.  The bidding feature is only available to registered users of Motonexus.

  • Click the LIVE AUCTIONS button at the top of the screen.

  • Click the Register button at the top right of the screen

  • Complete all the fields.  Remember to write down your password somewhere safe.

  • Click the SUBMIT button.

2. Bids verified by credit card.

  • All bidders are required to submit a hold of $500 on their credit card.  Credit card holds confirm bidders’ commitment to the auction and help reduce fake bids and fraud. Bidders will be asked for their credit card information the first time they bid.

  • Bidders who did not win the auction will have their credit card hold released at the end of the auction or soon after the auction.

  • The hold remains for the winning bidder and is used to pay the buyer's premium fee.

  • BIDDERS CAN NOT CANCEL THEIR BIDS.  ONLY BID IF YOU INTEND TO BUY THE VEHICLE.  IF A WINNING BIDDER DOES NOT COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION WITH THE SELLER, THE CREDIT CARD HOLD WILL STILL BE CHARGED FOR THE FULL HOLD AMOUNT OWED.

3. Watch for Escrow Required

  • ESCROW: Motonexus encourages every seller to select ESCROW REQUIRED when submitting a vehicle.  Escrow Required means that a third-party escrow company protects the payment and delivery (escrow.com).  An escrow protects both the buyer and the seller.  A winning Bidder deposits the purchase amount to an escrow account.  When the item is received, the funds are released to the seller.

  • When you see Escrow Required in the Details of the listing, go to https://www.escrow.com/cars and create a free account.  The seller will do the same.  The buyer and seller will complete the financial transaction at escrow.com.

.

4. Sniping Protection

  • Motonexus auctions include a sniping protection feature.  Sniping protection gives everyone a fair shot at winning the bid. Any time a bid is within a specific amount of time at the end of the auction clock, the time on the clock extends to allow other bidders an opportunity to counter.

  • We recommend that bidders make their best bid and not try to get a bid placed at the very last second; otherwise, the clock will reset and add additional minutes.

  • Motonexus changes the clock setting at random times to vary the amount of time used in sniping protection.
